Horowhenua District Council processes requests for information in accordance with the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) and the Privacy Act 2020. These aim to balance issues of transparency and public interest with limits on the disclosure of personal information.

Responses to Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) requests that we consider to be of wider public interest, or which relate to a subject that has been widely requested, will be published on our website as they become available along with a summary of the request. To protect the privacy of individuals, we will not generally publish personal information about individuals, or information that identifies individual requesters.     Request for information from between January 2017 and July 2022 about the number of registered dogs in the Horowhenua District; the number of attacks on people Council has recorded; among all the possible interventions on the attacking dog following an attack, a list of how many of each of those interventions were taken (and for how many there was no intervention); and among all the possible consequences for the dog owner following an attack, a list of how many of each of those were taken (and for how many there was no consequence).
