Levin was hit by a Tornado at approximately 6.30am this morning, causing havoc, taking down trees, impacting power lines and taking off roofs. Poor weather conditions have caused slips at Mangahao Road, Shannon & Gladstone Road, Levin. Both roads are closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. We'll provide further updates as soon as they become available. We're also monitoring any impact the rain may have on turbidity in our drinking water plants in Levin, Shannon & Tokomaru.
