The Levin Town Centre transformation, looks to design and create an attractive and vibrant urban town centre environment that supports economic growth, fosters community engagement and promotes sustainable development, ultimately enriching the quality of life for residents and visitors in Levin.

Taraika

Our district needs to build an estimated 440 homes every year for the next decade if we are to meet demand – many of those homes are likely to be built by developers in Taraika with the rest spread across the district.

Foxton — Welcoming by nature. The projects and plans are aimed at improving the environment and tourism ability of Foxton and Foxton Beach.

Ōtaki to North of Levin Highway (Ō2NL)

The Ōtaki to north of Levin (Ō2NL) highway project is the northernmost section of the Wellington Northern Corridor and will improve the safety and resilience of the transport network connecting Ōtaki and Levin, and the wider region.

Our Water Story

Our district's population is growing at the same time as its infrastructure is aging. We are repairing and replacing our drinking water, wastewater and stormwater networks to help us prepare for the future, while trying to minimise the burden on ratepayers.

Ballance Street Toilet Renovation

The public toilet on Ballance Street in Shannon is being renovated.

Bryce Street, Shannon, Wastewater Upgrades

There will be traffic control and road closures on Bryce Street in Shannon from Thomson Street West to allow for work on the wastewater main and pump station.

Levinable Stage 1

The Levinable Project aims to make the Lincoln Place Reserve an accessible and inclusive space for people from all walks of life.

Margaret Street, Shannon, watermain renewal

There will be traffic control and land closures on Margaret Street in Shannon to allow for watermain renewal.

Shannon Community Stage and Shelter

A community stage and shelter are being built at Shannon's Te Maire Park.

The Pot - Levin Wastewater Discharge Site

One of New Zealand’s original and most unique treated wastewater discharges is ready for the future after its biggest upgrade in 38 years.

Tokomaru Wastewater Disposal

Working with iwi and the community to create a long-term land-based discharge.

Water main and sewer pipe renewal, MacArthur Street, Levin

New sewer and water pipes will be installed on MacArthur Street from January to July 2024. There will be some traffic management and lane closures.

Ōtauru Stream Riparian Planting

Horowhenua District Council is working with Ngāti Whakatere to restore the Ōtauru Stream in Shannon.
