Community Wellbeing

Horowhenua District Council is committed to fulfilling its obligations under the Local Government Act to ensure community outcomes are achieved. Over the last 5 years we have made enormous progress in establishing foundations for future growth of Community Wellbeing. During the latter part of 2010 Horowhenua District Council dis-established its Joint Health and Transport Subcommittee and established the Community Wellbeing Committee and Forum.

The Community Wellbeing Committee is made up of Councillor and Community representation, acting as an official subcommittee of Council to provide effective leadership and strategic vision within the Community Wellbeing area. The committee meets every six weeks in the Council Chambers at Horowhenua District Council. The schedule for Community Wellbeing meetings can be accessed below and can be found on our Meeting's page.

In addition to the Community Wellbeing Committee, Council proudly supports and coordinates the Community Wellbeing Forum. This Forum is an open body of community leaders and representatives who bring the voice of the wider community around the issues and needs facing the District.  The forum brings forward suggestions for local solutions that respond to local needs.

For any questions in relation to Community Wellbeing, Youth, Positive Ageing or Education please do not hesitate to contact our Community Development Adviser by emailing or phoning (06) 366 0999.
