We are Horowhenua

A photographic showcase of Horowhenua rangatahi, regenerating and revitalising place through the potential of art.

We are Horowhenua is driven by the Levin Town Centre Strategy, where portrait placemaking sparks opportunity to engage the community within our centre. It connects to the newly refreshed Horowhenua brand ‘Huraina tō mata | Come find yourself’ for people who don’t live here, and ‘Ko tēnei whenua, tōku kāinga | This land, my home’ for those who do.

Bringing together concepts of art that display rangatahi connection to place, the beautiful photography of Ashleigh Le Gal brought to life a collection of 19 black and white portraits of art, culture and sport.

Thank you again to all those who supported this placemaking project, it is exciting to see the mana of our rangatahi come through in this mahi. Enjoy the gallery and be sure to get out and explore the various locations of We are Horowhenua proudly displayed within our community.
