The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is leading New Zealand's response to H5 bird flu (H5N1). You can help protect our native birdlife and local poultry by knowing what to do. If you see three or more sick or dead wild birds together, please don't touch or move them. Report them to MPI and follow the latest advice.

Hi I'm Ash and I live in a rural area of Levin.
I love Horowhenua because it has so many different people and beaches. The beaches are great because they have so much wildlife and places to explore. Some things to see at Kuku Beach are spot jellyfish and many native birds. In summer I swim there almost every day. I also like to take my dog for a walk there. My dog likes Kowhai Park too. Hokio Beach is excellent because it has so many cool things, plus you might even see a whale. I love the people in Horowhenua because they are always so friendly and cheerful.
I also do Scouts in Levin which allows me to do many exciting activities in Horowhenua including canoeing and tennis.
The people are great and nice to allow us to go to tennis and canoeing.
All of the We are Horowhenua photos will on display around Levin. View Map If you want to see this photo up close and personal, visit Safe Storage – Queen Street East.
