The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is leading New Zealand's response to H5 bird flu (H5N1). You can help protect our native birdlife and local poultry by knowing what to do. If you see three or more sick or dead wild birds together, please don't touch or move them. Report them to MPI and follow the latest advice.

The people in Horowhenua are so friendly and kind. The amount of support towards the Pasifika people here is awesome. I feel safer here than anywhere else. Since we moved here from the island of Tonga in 2019, the amount of love people showed us was insane. The support from the Fale Pasifika was awesome to see they really cared for everyone in the community. I love this town because it is small and quiet, making me feel safe to walk around in town.
I am currently the Student Board Of Trustees representative at Waiopehu College and part of the school student leadership team. I’m also one of the Pasifika leaders at Waiopehu College.
