Horowhenua District Council provides five permanent recycling stations at Tokomaru, Opiki, Foxton, Shannon and Levin and three summer recycling stations at Waitarere Beach, Waikawa Beach and Foxton Beach.
Waste Transfer Stations are provided in Foxton and Shannon. Levin Transfer Station is a privately operated facility, and Council does not own or operate this transfer station.
Recycling stations are located at most towns in the District where materials may be deposited for recycling. These are located as follows:

Hokio Landfill is not open to the public.
The Ministry of Consumer Affair's Energy Safety Service has information on safety with gas appliances and LPG cylinder testing.
From 11 December 2017, E-waste can be taken to our Foxton Transfer Station and Resource Recovery Park for recycling. E-waste is discarded electrical or electronic devices such as televisions, computers, printers, cameras, batteries, and fixed-line and mobile phones.
Operating Hours
This new e-waste recycling service will be available on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 12pm to 4pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm (closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Good Friday, ANZAC Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day).
Small items, such as mobile phones, will be free to recycle. For larger items, such as televisions and photocopiers, user charges will help to cover the cost of processing and transportation for recycling. A full list of fees is available for downloading below.

Our green waste is shredded and processed off site. To protect our contractors, their equipment from damage, and to maintain the quality of product there must be some restrictions on our dumped green waste.
