Streetlight Outages
Council owns and maintains streetlights along roads managed by Horowhenua District Council.
There are nearly 2,700 streetlights – they are energy-efficient LEDs and have a 20-year expected lifespan.
The LED lights on heavy-use streets are a higher wattage than those in residential areas.
Concerns about streetlights
If you have concerns about maintenance regarding a streetlight please email enquiries@horowhenua.govt.nz.
Please note, replacement of the LED lights will take some time as they are sourced from overseas.
Lights owned by others
If you have concerns about streetlights on State Highways through Horowhenua then please contact the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) by visiting the NZTA website.
If you have concerns about shopfront verandah streetlights these are owned and managed by the property owner.
