A section of east Tararua Road, Levin will be temporarily closed between 8am and 5pm on weekdays to install a new sewer pipeline as part of the Tara-Ika future growth project.
As the sewer will be installed at a depth of 5m, the temporary road closure will be in place to keep our community and road users safe during the construction activities.
Planned start date: Monday 19 February 2024
Expected completion date: Friday 16 August 2024, weather dependent
Work hours: 8am to 5pm
Affected area: All properties between 267 and 299 Tararua Road, Levin
The road will be open outside of normal work hours with a priority give way, and detours during the day will be clearly signposted.
To minimise disruption to traffic and residents, Higgins Contractors Ltd, who are doing the work on our behalf, will widen the shoulder of the road so traffic can safely move through the area when the road is open. This shoulder will provide a safety clearance from the construction site during times the site is unattended.
This closure is made in accordance with the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965. Road closures apply to all vehicular traffic, with the exception of emergency service vehicles.
