COVID-19 has put a spanner in the works for many kiwi as we adjust to our new normal, the opening of Foxton Pool was no different. But after a mammoth effort by the aquatics team, the pool will open this Sunday, 26 September.

With safety a priority, the pool will operate with a reduced timetable to ensure COVID-19 guidelines are met and both aquatics staff and the community are kept safe. Swim School Lessons and regular bookings will run as normal.

Fitness classes will start on the week beginning Monday 27 September. The timetable will be changed to fit the reduced opening hours.

Aquatics Manager - Patrick Blackman says “We know how much our community loves Foxton Pool and were due to open the pool on 1 September.  Unfortunately, lockdown impacted our ability to recruit and train lifeguards.  Once we moved to Alert Level 2, we were able to again pick up our preparations for opening the pool. The team is excited to start the season and catch up with all of their regulars.

Opening hours are as follows:

  • Sunday 11am to 6pm
  • Monday 11am to 7pm
  • Tuesday 11am to 6pm
  • Wednesday 12pm to 7pm (after hour booking 7pm to 8pm)
  • Thursday 11am to 7pm
  • Friday 3pm to 6pm
  • Saturday closed.

Under COVID-19 Alert Level 2, the following restrictions need to be adhered to:

  • Covid-19 Tracker App QR codes are available at each facility and a sign-in option is available for those without the Covid-19 Tracker App.
  • Two-metre social distancing will be adhered to and entry may be limited according to the ability to practice physical distancing.
  • Face coverings are optional as per Alert Level 2 rules.
  • Seating on pool surrounds will be very limited – we ask only 1 spectator per child.
  • Swimmers are asked to shower at home, amenities will be limited.
  • Recreation Swimming will be limited during Alert Level 2.
  • There'll be no inflatables or pool toys during Alert Level 2.
