What can go into your Council glass recycling crate

What should go in to your Council Glass Recycling Crate

These items can go in your Horowhenua District Council Glass Recycling Crate (please make sure all items are empty and clean):

• Glass bottles (lids removed)
• Glass food jars (lids removed)

Please do not put the following in your Glass Recycling Crate  

• Broken glass
• Light bulbs
• Pyrex and heatproof bakeware
• Window glass
• Mirrors
• Drinking and crystal glasses.

Some types of glass are dangerous to recycling collectors or can't be easily recycled because they melt at different temperatures. If your bin contains non-recyclable materials, we may not be able to collect it.

Waste Tip - Only glass bottles and jars go into your recycling crate

Only glass bottles and jars go into your recycling crate.
Glass gets sorted by hand so please wrap broken glass and put it in with your general waste to avoid health and safety issues.

Waste Tip - Remove the lids of plastic bottles or glass jars

Remember to remove the lids before popping your plastic bottles or glass jars into the recycling bin or crate.

Waste Tip - Don't stack glass above the top of your crate

Keep it safe, keep it steady, and prevent hazards.
