Notice of 2025 Triennial Local Authority Elections and Poll

On Display Indefinitely

The Local Elections for the Mayor, councillors and Te Awahou Foxton Community Board for Horowhenua District Council will be held by postal vote on Saturday 11 October 2025. In addition, a binding poll will be held to confirm whether the Māori Ward will be kept or removed for future elections. Nominations open 4 July and close 1 August 2025.

SH57/Tararua Road roundabout

From 13 January 2025 there will be no access from SH57 to the western section of Tararua Road and a detour will be in place (see map below). The detour will allow traffic to flow steadily through SH57, minimising disruption on the busy state highway.

Designation of Area for Building Emergency Management

On 20 May 2022, Horowhenua District Council applied to the Minister for Building and Construction to designate, under the Building Act 2004, an area of the Horowhenua District to manage buildings that have been affected by a tornado. This designation was approved on 20 May 2022.
