Resident Satisfaction Surveys 2024.

How do you think Council is going?

Horowhenua District Council is once again reaching out to the community to gather valuable feedback. This Resident Satisfaction Survey is conducted every year to measure community satisfaction with Council's performance, services, and facilities. It helps Council understand what it’s doing well and what needs to improve, so they can focus on what their community wants and better plan for the future.

The surveys each take 1-2 minutes and cover a wide range of areas including infrastructure, waste management, water services, community spaces, and leadership and engagement. Residents are encouraged to complete the following surveys:

Infrastructure – live from 13 February

Rubbish & Recycling

Roading Services

Water Services

Leadership & Engagement – live from 20 February

Leadership & Reputation

Communications & Engagement

Customer Service

Quality of Life

Places & Spaces – live from 27 February

Community Centres & Libraries

Parks & Reserves

Levin Aquatic Centre

Chief Executive Monique Davidson said the data will be analysed and presented to Elected Members in a public workshop.

“This process helps us pinpoint important areas for improvement by identifying key themes from feedback. Last year, people emphasised the need to maintain our footpaths better. In response, we adjusted our roading budget, allocating more funds to renewing footpaths. As a result, we've nearly doubled our investment in this area, allowing us to increase our footpath renewal from 1km in 2023/24 to 2km in 2024/25, all within our existing budgets."

“While we're proud of the improvements we've made across the board compared to last year, we also saw a key theme come through around Council’s responsiveness to community concerns. This is now a top priority across the organisation, and we're committed to making significant improvements in this area." Monique said.

Transparency is a priority for Horowhenua District Council and as such, all survey results will be made publicly available once the analysis and reporting processes are complete. This ensures that residents have full access to the findings and understand how their feedback contributes to decision-making processes.

The community are encouraged to participate in the surveys and have their voices heard. The collective input will help in building a stronger, more vibrant community that aligns with the needs and aspirations of everyone.

Residents can access the surveys (as they go live), and last year’s results via email, Facebook or by visiting Council’s website.

The surveys are open until 11 March 2024.
