Summer Music in the Park - Levin Adventure Park

Levin Summer Music in the Park 2023 - Musical notes.

The public are invited to attend these Horowhenua community free events ‘Levin Summer Music in the Park - 2023’, part of the Horowhenua Summer Music Events 2023, a District Wide Celebration of Summer Live Music. These events will be held at ‘Levin Adventure Park’ on Monday 23rd January from 11am to 3.30pm AND Sunday 29th January 11am to 5pm.

Monday 23 January 11am to 3.30pm, a Wellington Anniversary Weekend Celebration.

James Kereama Stent opens the day at 11am as a solo performer. A highly talented young man from Otaki. James will perform a selection of popular songs from the past few decades.

Kapiti based Latin American Jazz ensemble ‘Loaded Brasso’ takes to the stage at 12noon. Their musical set includes some Originals and popular Covers with a Jazzy twist. Featuring original Brasso band member Bob Glensor Vocalist / Drummer in several items. Also featured is local Kapiti identity David Langley who arranges all music for Brasso, David will be performing on his Trumpet/Flugal Horn and also sing several numbers.

Sinkboat performs from 1.30pm, a three piece post punk originals band from Wellington which began in Dunedin in 1994.Local Musician/Piano Teacher Kirsty Keys joined the band in 1997 when they relocated to Wellington. “I am very excited to be performing for these upcoming events, reuniting the band’’ “Kirsty is totally blown away that after 20 years, the original members can regroup, and people are attending this performance with eager anticipation of the excitement of “happy times” from the past.

Local band Jump performs from 2.30pm, a five-piece classic rock/pop covers band, based in the Kapiti and Horowhenua region. Playing a variety of cover songs from Blues to Classic and Pop-Rock. Featuring lead singer Charlie Wootton from internationally renowned band Merrin.

Sunday 29 January 11am to 5pm

Highly talented Kapiti youth solo performer Peyton Morete will entertain the audience with her musical set of covers and originals. Event organiser Chris Craddock described Peyton as “a lovely young lady with an emotional, deep and meaningful lyric and song”.

‘Brand New Secondhand’ a modern Reggae Vibe band will be performing from 1.30pm. Derived from Porirua, all highly talented musicians. ‘Brand New Secondhand’ will be performing with their percussive musical sound with an classic feel. “We are a new collective playing old reggae songs mixed with vibrant new songs” Brand New Secondhand stated. “These musicians are national level skill and we are very excited to have them performing at this event”, said event organiser Chris Craddock.

Mystix a 5 piece Covers Band performs from 2.45pm. Playing a wide range of music and can tailor their repertoire to suit various occasions.

With two experienced female vocalists, a rare treat in the vocal range, the mix of young and old, years of experience on the music scene they complement each other in their musicality in whatever genre’ they choose to explore. “We graze from each genre Blues, Easy listening, Rhythm and Blues. We play in so many various venues”. Easy feels Rhythm and Blues to emanate throughout the Levin Adventure Park .

At 4pm, highly popular Horowhenua Band ’Peanut Slab’ will entertain. An originals and covers 5 piece band with a “ Rhythm & Blues base, with a Reggae Twist, covering music from the 70`s to now ”. A modern glamourous band. This well-known band has performed at many Music festival & Events NZ Festivals. Invited back due popular demand for their mixture of originals and slant on covers.
