Young people encouraged to grow their ideas with The King’s Trust

Young people in Horowhenua with business ideas, or simply the drive to get into work, will soon have access to tailored support when The King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand Enterprise Programme comes to Levin on 16 and 17 March.

The programme is being co-hosted locally by Horowhenua District Council’s Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ) Team, reinforcing the district’s commitment to helping rangatahi step confidently into employment or entrepreneurship.

Designed for 15 to 30-year-olds, the Enterprise Programme begins with a practical two-day workshop, followed by one-on-one mentoring, potential start-up funding support, and access to an ongoing alumni network. The aim is to give young people the tools, confidence and connections to turn their ideas into action. 

Mayor Bernie Wanden says bringing the programme to Horowhenua is about backing the potential already in the community.

“Our young people have ambition and creativity. Sometimes what they need most is the right support around them. Through our Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs and this partnership with The King’s Trust, we’re helping create opportunities that encourage young people to think big about their future and take practical steps towards employment or starting their own business.”
