Jim White

Jim-White-December-2015

Foxton wouldn’t be the same without the Foxton Horse Tram which visitors just love. For eleven years Jim White has been driver, treasurer and horse and paddock manager.

The tram, equipment and horses came from Dunedin where they were sponsored by Speights brewery and the tram is a replica of a 19th century model pulled by Clydesdales. Driving heavy horses is something of a dying art but Jim is great with them - and kids just love them - and having a ride on the tram.

Jim is also a beach warden, on the Foxton Beach Neighbourhood Watch committee and a volunteer driver for the Foxton Beach community centre.

A builder and joiner by profession he’s appreciated for his skill and kindness - always on call to help with house maintenance and repairs for those living alone who aren’t up to fixing things themselves. We’re so blessed in this community to have selfless people like Jim and its a privilege to recognise his valuable contribution.
