Pawmanent dog tags - lifetime registration tag

Horowhenua District Council is proud to introduce Pawmanent dog tags – lifetime dog registration tags designed to stay with your dog for life

This means you will no longer need to replace your dog’s tag each registration year, making it easier to keep track of and reducing unnecessary waste. Please note that dogs must still be registered annually and registration fees will continue to apply each year; however, the same tag can continue to be used unless it becomes lost or damaged.

What you need to know:

  • Your dog keeps the same Pawmanent tag for life.
  • We won’t send a new tag each year when you renew.
  • If your dog already has a Pawmanent tag, hold onto it and keep using it.
  • If a replacement tag is required due to loss or damage, a small replacement fee will apply.

These tags make dog registration:

  • simpler
  • more sustainable
  • easier to manage

Renewing your dog’s registration

You still need to renew your dog’s registration every year.

Once you’ve renewed through Pawsonline or another payment option, your dog’s details are updated in our system – no new tag is needed.

  • Each tag is linked to one dog and can’t be reused.
  • Registering a new dog? We’ll send a new Pawmanent tag.
  • Lost or damaged tag? Get in touch and we’ll arrange a replacement.
