By Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) for the construction and operation, maintenance and improvement of the Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) Highway Project.
The Proposal
Resource consent applications and notices of requirement for a new designation have been lodged by Waka Kotahi for the Ō2NL Project which is the northern most section of the Wellington Northern Corridor, connecting to the Peka Peka to Ōtaki expressway (PP2Ō). This Ō2NL Project will provide a minimum 4-lane expressway from Wellington CBD to north of Levin. The resource consent applications and notices of requirement relate to the construction, operation, ongoing maintenance and improvement of new state highway, shared use path and associated infrastructure.
Resource Consent Applications
Horizons Regional Council (APP-2021203231.00)
The Ō2NL Project applies to an area of land located generally between Heatherlea East Road and the northern boundary of the Kāpiti Coast District to the east of existing SH1 and State Highway 57 (“SH57”). This application involves a number of activities to enable the construction, operation, and maintenance of a new highway, shared use path and associated infrastructure.
Greater Wellington Regional Council (WGN230122)
The Ō2NL Project applies to an area of land located generally between the northern boundary of the Kāpiti Coast District immediately to the east of existing SH1 and the northern extent of PP2Ō near Taylors Road on SH1. This application involves a number of activities to enable the construction, operation, maintenance of a new highway, shared use path and associated infrastructure.
Notices of Requirement
Horowhenua District Council (504/2022/22)
The purpose of the proposed designation is to construct, operate, maintain and improve a state highway, shared use path and associated infrastructure. The notice of requirement applies to an area of land within the Horowhenua District of approximately 516.517 hectares located generally between Heatherlea East Road and the boundary of the Kāpiti Coast District to the east of existing SH1.
Kāpiti Coast District Council (RM220254)
The purpose of the proposed designation is to construct, operate, maintain and improve a state highway, shared use path and associated infrastructure. The notice of requirement applies to an area of land within the Kāpiti Coast District of approximately 101.92 hectares located generally between the northern boundary of the Kāpiti Coast District immediately to the east of SH1 and the northern extent of PP2Ō near Taylors Road on SH1.
These applications are notified pursuant to sections 95 and 169(1A) of the Resource Management Act 1991. All information relating to the applications can be viewed on the Horizons Regional Council website.
Alternatively hard copies of the applications and notices of requirement may also be viewed at any of the Councils Offices during opening hours.
Submissions on the application must be received by Horizons Regional Council on or before 4:45pm Tuesday 28 February 2023.
