Matariki 2026 - Matariki ki Ōtauru.

Te Roopu Taiao o Ngāti Whakatere Trust warmly invites you to join us for Matariki ki Otāuru (Shannon).

Our celebration begins at 9am with karakia led by Ngāti Whakatere, setting the tone for a special day of reflection, connection, and community.

Enjoy a dedicated Kaumātua space, live entertainment, and a range of games and activities for tamariki. Each attendee will receive a free hāngī, with kai provided as part of this shared celebration.

Come together with whānau and the wider community as we mark the Matariki public holiday in Otāuru and celebrate the Māori New Year.
