If you see three or more sick or dead wild birds together, please don't touch or move them. Report them to MPI and follow the latest advice.

Council still maintains one water race within our Region, this is located in Waikawa. All others are privately owned. Water Races are primarily for stock drinking purposes, in times of heavy rainfall they can become blocked or overloaded.
If you pay a `fee' on your `Horowhenua District Council Rates', not the Horizons Regional Council rate account, then Council is responsible for maintenance of the water race. If you believe Council is responsible then please contact a Customer Service Representative for assistance on (06) 366 0999 or email us at enquiries@horowhenua.govt.nz
If the race is privately owned the owner will be responsible for all maintenance.
