What are the reasons why rates may be remitted or postponed?
Council enables rates to be remitted or postponed for a number of reasons, such as:
- providing relief from rates to groups providing non-governmental, not-for-profit community support services.
- contributing to district sustainability through providing relief to property owners who have voluntarily protected significant natural features.
- postponing payment if ratepayers are experiencing severe financial hardship and/or are older.
- ensuring homeowners who live in commercial or industrial zoned areas are not unduly penalised.
