Foxton Beach

Esplanade-Foxton

Foxton Beach is 5kms west of Foxton, approximately 90 minutes north of Wellington, just five minutes off State Highway 1.

Foxton Beach is a popular holiday destination due mainly to its beach and the bird sanctuary in the Manawatu River Estuary.

There is something for everyone at Foxton Beach! For the outdoor enthusiast there is plenty to do from fishing, kite boarding, surfing, swimming at the beach, or enjoying the parks and reserves or walkways or cycleways.

If you're looking for a spot to grab lunch there is the locals' favourite Ocean Beach Eatery (OBE) and the Little White Rabbit.

Visit the mouth of the Manawatu River at Foxton Beach and experience the world renowned Manawatu River Estuary – a RAMSAR-protected international wetland that regularly draws avid bird watchers from around the country and overseas, to witness the annual migrations of Godwit, Wrybill, Caspian Tern and Royal Spoonbill.

Whether you visit us for a holiday, a romantic getaway, weekend break or a stopover to or from the Inter-island ferries, Foxton Beach is a great place to visit!
