Horowhenua District Council will be upgrading the intersection at Liverpool Street & Bartholomew Road and the intersection at Liverpool Street & Balmoral Street, Levin to enhance safety and improve traffic flow.
The plan includes:
• removal of the existing pedestrian crossing and traffic islands
• installing three raised safety platforms, a kerbside extension and pedestrian refuges.
The work is scheduled to take place as follows:
Planned start date: Monday 15 April 2024
Expected completion date: Saturday 1 June 2024 (depending on weather)
Work hours: Between 7am and 5pm on weekdays, with occasional weekend work if needed
Affected area: Liverpool Street, Bartholomew Road and Balmoral Street
Heavy machinery will be operating throughout the project. Access to Balmoral Road from Liverpool Street will be closed from Monday 15 April to Friday 26 April 2024. Detours will be in place and affected residents will be advised beforehand.
