Horowhenua District Council Valuation Rolls

On display until February 05, 2026, 11:59 PM

A Rating Valuation (RV) is an indicative market value (excluding chattels) of a property on a particular date. Horowhenua District Council uses Quotable Value Limited to carry out this process, this looks at many aspects of each property including the market sales, floor area, construction material and market trends.

This process is usually carried out every three years and is used by the council to assess what rate will be allocated to a particular property. Each council uses this value differently and with different apportionments.

This value is useful when comparing properties, but it does not take into account modifications made to properties that council do not know about, for example if you have upgraded your kitchen or bathroom. A current market appraisal may be a more accurate option.

Once you have been notified of the new valuation, you can object to the assessment if you think it is too high or low.

The revised Rating Values are effective as at 1 August 2025 and the new notices of valuations will be posted to owners and ratepayers from 17 December 2025. The District Valuation Rolls will be open for public inspection, free of charge, during regular office hours at the office of:
