A man involved in an incident in Bledisloe Street, Levin has been transported to hospital in a critical condition and is being treated for smoke inhalation.
Police would like to reassure residents impacted by the incident in Bledisloe Street that we are working at pace to ensure they can return to their homes as quickly as possible.
While the man involved has been transported to hospital, some work does remain to ensure that there is no ongoing risk to people in the area.
“We know that this incident has been very disruptive for those residents who were evacuated, as well as being very unsettling for the wider community,” says Inspector Sarah Stewart, Manawatū Area Commander.
“I want to thank you all again for the cooperation, patience and resilience you’ve shown as we worked to resolve this situation.”
A further update will be provided once the property is made safe and cordons are being lifted.
