Get ready for an explosion of colour, music and joy at Horowhenua Holi - Celebration of Colour.

Join us this Saturday 21 March, from 1pm to 5pm at Levin Adventure Park for an afternoon packed with vibrant fun for the whole whānau.

This will be the first time Horowhenua Holi is held in our district. The free, family-friendly event showcases cultural diversity in a vibrant outdoor setting, with colour throws, music, dance and delicious food creating a lively atmosphere for all ages.

Mayor Bernie Wanden says the event is a great way to experience different cultures while enjoying a fun afternoon out with whānau and friends. “Horowhenua Holi is about embracing diversity and sharing in the energy and joy that comes with it. We’re proud to bring this event to Horowhenua and can’t wait to see people laughing, dancing and counting down to those big colour throws. It will be a fantastic atmosphere, and I encourage everyone to come along and be part of it.”

Entry to the festival is free, with colour powder available to purchase on the day. Grab your packets, gather your crew, and get ready to paint the sky in every shade of happiness.

Festival highlights include:

  • Countdown colour throws that fill the sky with vibrant clouds
  • Music and dance performances to keep the energy high
  • A range of food stalls and food trucks with tasty bites and sweet treats
  • A welcoming, inclusive space for all ages to enjoy

Attendees are encouraged to wear old white clothing, as colours may stain, and comfortable, flat shoes.

Please do not bring your own powders. Official colour powders sold at the event are cornflour-based, non-toxic and cosmetic grade, making them safe for tamariki and adults.

While the event itself is free, colour powder will be available for purchase on the day:

  • $5 per packet
  • 3 packets for $10
  • 6 packets for $20
  • 10 packets for $30

Parking at Levin Adventure Park is limited, so plan ahead where possible.

Come along and celebrate colour, culture and community in the most joyful way possible.

Horowhenua Holi supports stronger, more connected neighbourhoods by creating welcoming spaces where people feel included and supported. The event aligns with Council’s priority to enhance health and wellbeing initiatives, as outlined in the Community Wellbeing Strategy 2024 to 2027.
