The Youth Excellence Awards, launched more than 20 years ago, have recognised and supported over 300 outstanding young people from across our district. These scholarships have helped recipients pursue their dreams. Whether that meant easing the costs of tertiary study, purchasing essential sporting gear, or supporting travel for competitions and events.
Each year, scholarships are presented across four categories: academic excellence, sporting excellence, outstanding community service, and excellence in arts and culture. This year, we were delighted to receive 39 nominations.
Every single nomination showcased the passion, determination and an impressive array of achievements of our young people. While nominations are open to the whole community, many come from the students’ schools, an acknowledgement of the high regard in which these young achievers are held by their principals and teachers.
On behalf of Council, I want to express our sincere thanks to everyone who put forward a nomination, including Principals and staff. Your commitment to recognising and uplifting our talented and hardworking young people is appreciated.
These awards celebrate the dedication, effort and positive impact of our district’s exceptional scholars, athletes, artists and young volunteers. Each of them contributes in their own way to the vibrancy and wellbeing of our community. Tonight, we’re proud to acknowledge their achievements with a $500 award.
