Don’t miss out – Five days of ice skating fun in Levin
Published on August 20, 2025
Horowhenua is about to get the coolest experience of the year. From Wednesday 27 August to Sunday 31 August, the Ice Skate Tour is transforming Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō (The Youth Space), in Levin into a winter wonderland with an artificial rink that feels just like the real thing – and your chance to have your say on the future Levin Town Centre transformation.
This is your moment to glide, spin and laugh with friends and whānau on the ice with no need to travel out of town. Spaces are limited, and tickets are expected to sell fast, so booking ahead is the only way to guarantee your spot.
This exciting opportunity coincides with our ongoing commitment to a Levin Town Centre transformation that offers a range of activities and social experiences enticing people to visit, play and spend time in the Levin Town Centre. The Ice Skate Tour will allow participants to give their feedback on the types of events and activities that could activate a future Town Centre.
As part of the week’s programme, there will be a Whānau Disco Night on Wednesday 27 August - skate under the lights, move to the music and enjoy an atmosphere that’s pure magic.
There’s also a Disco Night on Saturday 30 August from 6.30pm to 9pm, exclusively for rangatahi aged 13 to 24, led by Youth Voice Horowhenua. Tickets are $10 each, available now at Eventfinda.
Mark Hammond, Council’s Community Facilities and Services Manager, says this is an event not to be missed. “An ice rink in Levin doesn’t come around often. It’s a chance to try something unique, have fun as a family, and have your say on the Levin Town Centre transformation. We expect tickets to go quickly, so get in early.”
