Levin is set to sparkle once again as the community comes together to celebrate Diwali – the Festival of Lights – at Gladys Taylor Park on Saturday 8 November 2025.

Each year, Diwali brings people of all ages and backgrounds together to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and the renewal of life. It’s a time for family, friendship, and reflection, and this year’s event will once again showcase the rich culture, colour, and energy that make this festival so special.

Running from 5pm to 9pm, the free, family-friendly event promises an evening filled with performances, food and fun. The 2025 line-up features an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary performances – from graceful classical Indian dance to energetic Bollywood routines and lively local acts that will keep the crowd entertained throughout the evening.

There’ll also be a range of food and market stalls offering the sights, sounds, and flavours that make Diwali one of the world’s most loved festivals.

Mayor Bernie Wanden says Diwali has become a highlight on the district’s events calendar and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate community and culture.

“Diwali is a beautiful reminder of what unites us,” he says. “It’s a time to share stories, traditions, and joy – and to celebrate the light that each of us brings to our community. I encourage everyone to come along and be part of this special evening.”

Whether you’ve been to Diwali before or are coming for the first time, it’s an experience not to be missed. Gather your friends, whānau and neighbours, and join in a night filled with light, laughter and connection.
