Shared Pathways

Horowhenua District Council is developing a network of shared pathways across the district. We aim to provide good off-road paths for people on bikes that are great spaces for others to use – walked, wheeled or rolled.

The network will grow each year, with the intention of connecting people and destinations in the district as well as to neighbouring districts.

The shared pathways are mostly in the roading corridor. However, some may also cross land owned by our partners such as the Department of Conservation, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), KiwiRail and sometimes private landowners.

Shared Pathways Strategy

You can find out more about our Shared Pathways by reading the strategy that guides their development on our Horowhenua Shared Pathways page.
