Pre-application meeting

If you're working on a large or complex project, get in touch with us to arrange a pre-application meeting. A pre-application meeting is an opportunity for you to discuss your proposed project with Council staff.

Pre-application meetings are strongly recommended for the following types of building consent applications:

  • Commercial, communal residential or short-term sleeping accommodation buildings
  • Staged building consents
  • Buildings on land that is subject to natural hazards
  • Complex residential buildings
  • Work which will result in a change of use of the building or create additional household units.

It is also recommended that you check to see if your proposed building work complies with the requirements of the District Plan, or is already provided for by an existing Resource Consent. If it is not, you may need to apply for Resource Consent. More information about resource consents can be found on our Resource Consents section.
