Pre-Application Services

Horowhenua District Council has a Planner available at the Council building for a face to face meeting every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 12pm.

You can talk to a Planner over the phone, or come into the Council building for a face to face meeting. If you wish to meet with the Planner, it's recommended you call and book a time to avoid having to wait (for example, if the Planner is busy with other customers). Appointment bookings are for 30 minutes. If you require additional time, please request a longer appointment time.

The Planner can assist with District Plan Enquiries, such as whether you require a resource consent and what information will be required with your application.

Also, you can talk to a Planner over the phone and/or request to receive planning advice via email.

Pre-application meetings

Once you have a fair idea about the scale of your plans, a pre-application meeting is useful for larger scale proposals. Council offers pre-application meetings free of charge. This is an opportunity for you to discuss your proposal with Council staff, such as planners and engineers.

If you wish to arrange a pre-application meeting, please call and ask for a call back from a Planner. The Planner will ask you some initial questions, to determine who from Council needs to be at the meeting and to advise what information you should bring with you. The Planner will then arrange a meeting time and advise you of this.
