Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom – Official Opening

Foxton’s much anticipated multi-cultural tourism centre Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom is set to open its doors to the community for the first time at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 18. Commencing with a Dawn Ceremony, closely followed by a Pōwhiri at 10:00am, then a community festival with all kinds of activities until 3:00pm.

Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom is a multi-faceted facility, home to Piriharakeke Generation Inspiration Centre, a Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga Māori museum, gallery and learning space. Oranjehof, New Zealand’s National Dutch Museum will inform, educate and inspire New Zealand about its Dutch connections. The facility also houses the library, information centre, meeting rooms, cafe, and exhibition space. This will become the heart of Foxton, a space for young and old, individuals, whānau, locals and visitors alike.

Parking will be available at  Eastern Park and along Harbour Street.
Several Foxton Streets will be closed between 3:00am and 5:00pm to ensure the safety of people attending the event.
