Offering great views over Lake Horowhenua (Punahau), Muaūpoko Park is an extensively landscaped area of parkland around the lake with a playground. Lake Horowhenua (Punahau) is one of the coastal dune lakes typical of the region.
A large variety of bird life visits the lake - a great place to feed the ducks with the littlies. It is a peaceful spot with play equipment and large grassed areas.
No power boats are allowed and the lake is not suitable for swimming. Dogs only allowed in designated Agility/Obedience Club areas.
Muaūpoko Park is maintained by Horowhenua District Council under the direction of the Lake Domain Board, vehicle access cannot be guaranteed although the park can be entered by foot from the Queen St entrance.
