As of 20 March 2018, Fire and Emergency New Zealand has revoked the Restricted Fire Season for State Highway 1 to the Coast. An Open Fire Season (No Permit Required) is now in place from State Highway 1 to the Coast. An Open Fire Season (No Permit Required) remains in place for State Highway 1 inland.
As of Thursday 1 March, water restrictions for residents in Levin and Ōhau have been downgraded from Level 2 to Level 1. Water restrictions for residents in Shannon, Tokomaru, Foxton and Foxton Beach have been lifted.
Not suitable for swimming and no boats allowed.
Offering great views over Lake Horowhenua (Punahou), Muaupoko Park is an extensively landscaped area of parkland around the lake with a playground. Lake Horowhenua (Punahou) is one of the coastal dune lakes typical of the region. A large variety of bird life visits the lake - a great place to feed the ducks with the littlies. It is a peaceful spot with play equipment and large grassed areas. No power boats are allowed and the lake is not suitable for swimming. Dogs only allowed in designated Agility/Obedience Club areas.
