Error in dog registration renewal notices resolved

Horowhenua District Council has identified an error affecting dog registration renewal notices sent to owners of rural de-sexed dogs.
The error resulted in owners of rural de-sexed dogs being incorrectly billed for a registration fee of $120, which is the fee for an entire dog. The fee should have been $72.
Compliance Manager Vai Miller said the error had now been rectified, and anyone who had overpaid would receive a refund.
“Although the dog registration file was tested and spot checked, it’s clear that we missed a coding inconsistency and we apologise for the mistake,” she said.
Updated registration renewal notices will be posted to affected owners.
