Every neighbourhood and community is different; each with their own unique identity and special characteristics. A Community Plan is the voice of the community – it highlights their goals and aspirations, and how we will achieve them.

The Ōhau Community Plan was created based on extensive feedback from the community and was adopted by Council on 11 November 2020.

Now the plan has been finalised, Council Officers will continue working alongside the local community in the implementation of the community plan.

What is a Community Plan?

Every neighbourhood and community is different; each with their own unique identity and special characteristics. A Community Plan is the voice of the community – it highlights their goals and aspirations, and how we will achieve them.

Why is it important?

Our unique neighbourhoods and communities are what make Horowhenua a fantastic place to live, work and play. A Community Plan will help preserve the areas that the community think are most special and outline ways we will enhance and develop other areas of importance to create the community, those who live there, want for the future.
