What is a Community Plan?
Every neighbourhood and community is different; each with their own unique identity and special characteristics. A Community Plan is the voice of the community – it highlights their goals and aspirations, and how we will achieve them.
Why is it important?
Our unique neighbourhoods and communities are what make Horowhenua a fantastic place to live, work and play. A Community Plan will help preserve the areas that the community think are most special and outline ways we will enhance and develop other areas of importance to create the community, those who live there, want for the future.
Who should be involved?
Everyone! Every person in our communities contributes to what makes it unique. We want to hear from you – tell us what makes your community special and what your dreams and aspirations are for your community.
The first communities Council will be working with to create their Community Plans are Manakau, Ōhau, Waitārere Beach and Levin. If you live, work or play in any of these areas we want to hear from you.
If this isn’t you don’t worry! Council will be working with the other communities in the district over the coming years. The aim is to have Community Plans which represent all of the district.
How can I be involved?
