Just beside the bridge where the Waikawa Stream goes out to sea, there’s a perfect family picnic spot, with picnic tables, a basketball hoop, a childrens’ playground and an outdoor shower for after your swim.
The river is the perfect place for you and the family to enjoy canoeing, kayaking and swimming. You can also access the beach by crossing the footbridge or at the end of Manga Pirau St. The attractive coastal village of Waikawa is situated nearby.
The reserve is named after the late Hank Edwards who was a member of the Waikawa Beach Residents Association.
Dogs must be on a leash in the reserve, but can run free on the beach. Horses are allowed on the beach only.
