Horowhenua Events Grant
The Horowhenua Events Grant was created to address the growing need to support grass-roots community activities.
The grant, which may only award a maximum of $250 (unless under exceptional circumstances) can be applied for by any individual or community group, provided the event or activity they are applying for is open to the wider community.
Applications may be made on an ongoing basis throughout the year (1 July to 30 June) but must be applied for at least one month prior to the event taking place (no retrospective funding). In addition, as there is a very limited funding pool available for this grant ($5,000 in total), once all the funds for a financial year have been awarded to the community, there will be no more awarded until the beginning of a new financial period.
Preference will be given to events that are inclusive to all in the community, are fun and interactive, contribute to a sense of vibrancy, and achieve community wellbeing outcomes.
Successful applicants must provide some form of accountability back to Horowhenua District Council upon the completion of their event; whether that be a newspaper article, photos of the event/activity taking place, or a formal accountability report.
