Community Support Grant

A sum of $160,000 has been set aside this 2020/2021 financial year to assist non-profit organisations meeting criteria with projects, events and costs associated with responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and support for community recovery. Funding awarded will vary, but the average grant issued will be between $500.00 and $3,000.00 but with no cap.

The Horowhenua Community Support Grant will be available in four rounds throughout the 2020/2021 financial year or until the fund has been completely allocated, whichever comes first. The fund will be distributed in two monthly cycles as follows:

  • Round 1 opens 1 August 2020 and closes at 5pm on 31 August 2020.
  • Round 2 opens 1 October 2020 and closes at 5pm on 31 October 2020.
  • Round 3 opens 1 December 2020 and closes at 5pm on 31 December 2021.
  • Round 4 opens 1 February 2021 and closes at 5pm on 28 February 2021.

Applications for Round 1 of the 2020/2021 financial year open at 8am on 1 August 2020 and close at 5pm on 31 August 2020.

Following our transition to the new SmartyGrants administration tool it will now be mandatory to apply online. Council officers will be available to help you establish your SmartyGrants account and to make your first online application, if required.
