As of 1 March 2018, Fire and Emergency New Zealand has revoked the Restricted Fire Season for part of the Horowhenua District. An Open Fire Season (No Permit Required) is now in place from State Highway 1 inland. A Restricted Fire Season (Permits Required) is in place from State Highway 1 to the Coast.
As of Thursday 1 March, water restrictions for residents in Levin and Ōhau have been downgraded from Level 2 to Level 1. Water restrictions for residents in Shannon, Tokomaru, Foxton and Foxton Beach have been lifted.
