The submissions to the LTCCP and surveys conducted by the Hokio and Waitarere water committees showed clear support for the respective new schemes and Council resolved to support/pursue the associated subsidy applications. The submissions on the proposed Waikawa and Manakau scheme showed an almost total lack of support and Council resolved to take the proposal no further.
As applications were being prepared for the September 2009 Ministry of Health deadline, the Government announced that the subsidy scheme was being put on hold whilst it was reviewed over a 6 month period (i.e. concluding around March 2010). Council is now awaiting the outcome of that review before taking any further action in relation to the Hokio and Waitarere schemes.
