The proposal is to undertake earthworks (387, 240 cubic metres in extent) within 4 circular areas identified on the above property, involving 40.28 hectares of land. The proposed earthworks involve re-contouring and fill to lower high dunal formations for the purpose of accommodating centre pivot irrigators. Retrospective consent is sought for Area 1 as works within this area are complete. The works are proposed to be undertaken in five stages of approximately 5-6 hectare segments. The property is situated to the west of Oturoa Road, 2.5km north east of Waitarere Beach and 4.5km south of Foxton.
The application proposes the restoration of a lagoon to the south of Area 1 through fencing off from stock and a native planting program as an environmental offset.
The application includes an Assessment of Environmental Effects, an Assessment of Landscape and Visual Effects, an Archaeological Assessment, an Ecological and Hydrology Assessment and a Cultural Impact Report. |
