Rubbish & Recycling
Horowhenua District Council provides Solid Waste (rubbish) disposal facilities for residents and visitors to our District through a Kerbside Bag Collection service, and by providing Waste Transfer Stations in Foxton and Shannon.
A Kerbside Recycling operation is also provided to compliment the kerbside refuse collection. Five permanent recycling stations are provided at Tokomaru, Opiki, Foxton, Shannon and Levin, and three summer recycling stations are provided at Waitarere Beach, Waikawa Beach and Foxton Beach over the summer period. Further information is provided below.
Tell us about your rubbish
We're seeking your feedback on how you use available rubbish and recycling services, and have produced a short voluntary questionnaire for our residents and visitors.
There are eight questions, such as how your rubbish is collected, how often and how much usually; also seeking your thoughts on future options, as well as an opportunity for you to make any further comments.
The questionnaire can be completed online by selecting the link below, or you can fill out a printed form available from Council's main office in Levin or its customer service centres at the Foxton and Shannon community libraries.
