Note: The latest version of the NZBC/B1 cites the new loading standard AS/NZS 1170 and has an implementation date of 1 December 2008. This means that specific structural design work being undertaken now should comply with the new design standard which also requires that the design work be undertaken by an engineer with relevant experience and skills. A structural engineer who is a chartered professional engineer (PEng) will satisfy this requirement. The use of NZS4203 will not be allowed after this date.
PIM/Building Consent Application Checklist PRE-VET
This is a form that we use to initially check Building Consent applications, content and details against before we accept the lodgement of a Building Consent to Council. We would urge all clients to familiarise themselves with this form and to undertake a self check of their consent application prior to submitting to Council.
Building Consent Information
This is a brief outline guide of the process that is followed with Consents.
Consented Building Work Inspection Process
All consented works require inspections. This document provides you with a brief overview. We remind you that two working days notice of an inspection need is to be given. When booking your inspection please ensure you provide your consent number, project location, type of inspection and a contact telephone number. The job copy of consented documents must be available on-site.
Consented Building Work Certification
When consented works have been completed the final part of the process is for Council to issue a Code Compliance Certificate. This document provides an overview to this process.
Reasons for Further Information Requests
Either at the PRE-VET stage or during the full technical check of building consent applications, there are occasions where we need to clarify details with the applicant, with this process commonly known as a "Further Information Request". The link provides you with details of the most common things we need to seek additional information on. By taking account of this listing you are likely to reduce the likelihood, or the size of, further information requests.
If you have any queries, please contact Council's Customer Service Centre.
