Shaping Horowhenua
What is the District Plan?
The Horowhenua District Plan is the Council's key document that manages and addresses environmental issues, including telling you what you can and cannot do on land in the District. The District Plan covers all areas: rural land, residential and urban areas, including the commercial and industrial parts of the District.
The District Plan manages important issues such as urban growth, business and industrial development together with other matters such as how high and how close to the boundary buildings can be built.
The District Plan affects the day-to-day lives of everybody in the District, although for most people a lot of what the District Plan achieves goes unnoticed.
