District Plan Review
SHAPING HOROWHENUA
Shaping Horowhenua is the name of the District Plan Review project that the Council launched in December 2009.
The Shaping Horowhenua project provides an opportunity for ratepayers, residents, visitors, businesses, and interest groups to have a say on shaping the future of Horowhenua.
The current District Plan became operative in September 1999, which means that many of the provisions in the current District Plan are now more than 10 years old and legally need to be reviewed.
This project will involve reviewing the existing policies and rules that manage and protect our local environment, including those policies and rules that control what you can and cannot do on your property.
Consultation
The Council has begun the first of several phases of community consultation. The Council is looking for the community to identify the key environmental issues that should be addressed as part of the District Plan Review.
We want to know what is important about where you live, work, or play in the Horowhenua.
Have Your Say
An information brochure and questionnaire has been posted to every Horowhenua ratepayer. Not only does the questionnaire provide the opportunity to have a say on the future of Horowhenua, but there is also the opportunity to win some great prizes. Questionnaires must be completed and returned by 12 February 2009.

Please note that the questionnaire can either be printed off and posted back, or you can complete it online and email it back.
To complete online simply type in the areas provided for the answers. When you have finished answering the questions, either save a copy of the document and then send the document as an attachment. If you choose to email without saving, please make sure you choose to send a copy of the PDF file as an attachment otherwise your answers may not be included in the email.
