the adventure park

"The Adventure Park is one of the most famous landmarks in Levin.

Things I like about the Park include the slide (the big one), the running wheels, the flying fox...

I think the Park could have an enclosed toddlers pool, rugby posts on the field and maybe a public suggestion box for improvements.

It makes me feel a bit mad that vandals vandalise our Park.  Why can't they appreciate it like we do?

Thank you for reading my report."

Levin Adventure Park

Levin Adventure Park SignThe Adventure Park in Oxford Street, Levin, is run by a Charitable Trust and its aim is for all activities to remain free of charge.

The Levin Adventure Park is in a prime location and serves as a meeting place for families and visitors to the Horowhenua.  It has indeed put Levin on the map!  Positive comments about the park are considerable and it has become a major asset and tourist attraction in the Horowhenua.

Many schools, organisations and families travelling through Levin enjoy the park facilities and take time out on their journeys.

The main entrance and car park is accessible from Oxford Street.  Opening hours are:

Children's Play Area Climbing Ropes Train

Major Attractions

The train is a major attraction and during the weekends it can be seen packed with children enjoying their rides.  The drivers and their assistants are all volunteers and the Trustees sincerely thank them all for their time, energy and effort to keep the train running.  They are always very accommodating with special requests to run the train at other times for groups and do an amazing job.

The train is free when scheduled and usually runs every weekend between 1pm and 3 pm (weather permitting) and during school holidays (subject to driver availability).  The train can be requested outside of these times for groups, for a donation.

Special Events and Functions

The Park is used by a wide range of people for private functions such as children's birthday parties and other celebratory functions and around Christmas by many organisations for their end of year children's parties.

Special events such as the Annual Easter Egg Hunt organised by Altrusa and the Annual Waitangi Day celebration by Muaupoko attract large numbers who enjoy the surroundings.  The Levin Stargazers, an astronomy club, meets regularly in the evenings, often educating locals and attracting large crowds.

Support and Maintenance

Local businesses help support and maintain the Levin Adventure Park.  In April 2010 the Horowhenua District Council took over the maintenance of the Park.
