Horowhenua District Council (Council) is undertaking consultation prior to producing its 2017/18 Annual Plan. Consultation will be in accordance with the special consultative procedure of the Local Government Act 2002 and its 2014 amendments.
A Consultation Document and supporting documents have been produced and are publicly available online at www.horowhenua.govt.nz/consultationdoc
Printed copies are available at Council’s main office in Levin as well as at Te Takere, Foxton Library, Shannon Library, Tokomaru Store, Waitarere Beach Four Square and Manakau Store.
During the consultation period, Council Officers and Elected Members will be available to speak to any ratepayer or resident about the Consultation Document. Drop-In Tables and Public Information Sessions
‘Drop In Tables’ will be run by elected members and provide an opportunity for members of the community to come and speak to them about the matters covered in the Consultation Document. These will be held at the following locations and times:
- Levin Mall, Friday 17 March,1:00pm to 2:30pm;
- Holben Pavilion, Foxton Beach, Saturday 25 March, 12:00pm to 1:30pm;
- Levin Mall, Wednesday 29 March, 12:00pm to 1:30pm; and
- Te Takere, Friday 31 March, 12:00pm to 1:30pm.
‘Public Information Sessions’ will also be held to provide a high-level overview of matters covered in the Consultation Document and are an opportunity for members of the community to speak with some Elected Members and Council Officers. These will be held at the following locations and times:
- Masonic Village Hall, Foxton, Tuesday 21 March, 7:00pm
- Council Chambers, Levin, Thursday 23 March, 7:00pm
- Shannon Memorial Hall, Thursday 30 March, 7:00pm.
Call for submissions – 2017/18 Annual Plan consultation
Residents and ratepayers are welcome to make a submission on any of the matters covered in the 2017/18 Annual Plan Consultation Document. Submissions close at 5:00pm on Monday 10 April 2017.
Submitters are encouraged to prepare their submission using the submission template, which is available as an insert in the Consultation Document, online at www.horowhenua.govt.nz/consultationdoc or at Council’s Office and Libraries.
Submitters who wish to speak to their submission will have the opportunity to be heard on either the 3 or 4 May 2017. Deliberation on all submissions will take place on 24 May 2017, with the 2017/18 Annual Plan to be adopted on 21 June 2017.
